KCJ Manifesto
Kigali Cine Junction aims to establish Kigali as the cinema capital of Africa,
a place where audiences and professionals converge to
discuss and explore the aesthetics in cinema.
We champion and celebrate a type of cinema
that values substance while putting an emphasis on form.
Cinema as an art form that encapsulates time,
bears witness to lives and experiences of the past,
makes sense of the present and imagines the future.
We believe in the unifying power of cinema
to bring communities together.
We recognize the importance of audience development,
as a key factor in fostering a vibrant film culture.
Therefore, our second goal is to celebrate cinema
as a popular, influential and accessible art form.
Our diverse programs reflect these dual objectives,
which we see not as contradictory,
but as complementary threads woven into the
fabric of Kigali Cine Junction.
